CHOOSE FOR YOURSELF THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE— Joshua 24:15

Hello beloved,
This is Gabriella Osamor, a woman of faith — and you’re listening to Let’s Talk God ’n’ Christ.

Today’s conversation is tender.
It is for anyone who has faced something that looked like the end.

Our theme today is:
“I Stared at Defeat — And I Found Hope, Hope That Heals.”

Let’s talk to God.
Heavenly Father,  thank You for a day like this filled with hope. Please open our eyes of understanding and help us apply Your Word to our lives. In Jesus name.
Amen

There are moments in life when defeat does not whisper. It stands in front of you.
Bold. Cold. Unmoving.

It may come as a medical report. A financial collapse. A betrayal. A delay that stretches longer than your strength.

Defeat says, “This is over.”
And for a moment, you believe it.
You look at the situation. You measure your strength. You calculate the odds.
And everything says: “This is too much.”

But here is the turning point.
Defeat can stare at you. But you must decide what you stare back with.
Despair? Or hope?

The Bible tells us in Epistle to the Romans 4:18 that Abraham, “against hope believed in hope.”

Against hope.
That means circumstances gave him no reason to expect anything.
But he chose hope anyway.

Hope is not denial.
Hope is defiance.
It says: “This may look finished, but God is not finished.”

Hope Is Not Weakness
Many people think hope is fragile.
No.
Hope is strength in quiet form.
Hope does not scream. Hope stands.
Hope does not deny pain. Hope survives pain.

The Scripture says in Epistle to the Hebrews 6:19:
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
An anchor is not decorative. It is functional.

When storms rise, the anchor holds.
When winds rage, the anchor grips.
And sometimes, beloved, the only thing holding you steady is hope.

When Staring at Defeat
There are seasons when you cannot run from the situation.
You must look at it.
You must sit with it.
You must endure it.
And in those moments, something happens.

You discover that defeat is loud — but it is not sovereign.
Defeat speaks. But it does not rule.
Only God rules.
And that changes everything.

Let's now  talk about Hope That Heals.
Healing is not always instant.
Sometimes healing is gradual. Sometimes it is emotional.

Sometimes it is spiritual before it is physical.
But hope is always the beginning of healing.
Because once hope enters, despair loses authority.

Sometimes hope whispers:
“This is not your final chapter.”
Hope says:
“Even here, God is present.”

Hope reminds you of Jesus Christ — who stared at the cross, endured its shame, and still trusted the Father.
The cross looked like defeat.
But it became victory.

That is the mystery of God.
What looks like loss can become transformation.

There are times when you do not have the strength to fight.
But you can still hope.
You may not be able to move. But you can still believe.
And slowly — very slowly — hope begins to heal what fear damaged.

Hope heals:
Your thinking
Your courage
Your expectations
Your prayer life
Hope restores the possibility of tomorrow.
And when hope returns, strength follows.

Answer this:
What Do You Do When Facing Defeat?
Do not pretend it is not painful.
Do not deny what you feel.
But do not surrender your hope.
Speak hope.

Even if your voice trembles.
Pray hope.
Even if your faith feels small.
Remember this:
Defeat is a moment. God is eternal.
Defeat is loud. God is sovereign.
Defeat may stand before you. But it cannot stand above God.

Let's talk about The Healing Power of Hope:
Hope heals because it reconnects you to God’s character.
When you hope, you are saying:
“God, I still believe You are good.” “I still believe You are able.” “I still believe You are near.”

And when you hold onto that, something inside you begins to live again.
Not because the problem has disappeared — but because despair has lost its grip.

If today you are staring at something that looks like defeat, hear me carefully:
Do not look at it alone.
Look at it — and look at God.
Look at it — and remember who sits on the throne.

You may be facing something difficult.
But you are not facing it without hope.
And hope that is rooted in God does not disappoint.

Let's pray.
Dear Father, thank You for hope. Hope that heals. Whatever we might face in life, please grant us grace never to lose hope in Jesus name.
Amen
