INTRO: Conversational Tone
Welcome back, beautiful people!
You're listening to Let's Talk God 'N' Christ - where real faith meets real life, and we dive deep into the Word to find strength, hope, and direction.
I'm your host, Ngozi Ndubisi. I'm so glad you're here. Today's episode is one you don't want to miss.
We're talking about something so foundational, so powerful, and yet so neglected by many believers - PRAYER.
And not just prayer... but WHY WE PRAY.
So let's settle in, open our hearts, and let the Holy Spirit minister to us.
But, do you know that
- 1. PRAYER IS A DIVINE COMMAND - NOT A SUGGESTION, OR A MAYBE:
Let's get this straight:
Prayer is not optional. It's not something we do when we feel spiritual. It's not a backup plan when all else fails. Prayer is a divine command - an instruction straight from the heart of God. A first to do.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, "Pray without ceasing."
This is not advice. It's a charge! This is a divine requirement for survival, for growth, and for impact.
Listen - every commandment of God is for your profiting. Not for God's.
2 Timothy 3:16 says "All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable..." So when God says "Pray," He's opening a portal of profits over your life.
Your prayer life is not just a response to problems - it is the architect of your future.
Your future is not a product of chance - it's a product of obedience.
In this kingdom, we don't live by luck - we live by light.
And prayer connects us to divine light. - 2. WE PRAY TO ADVANCE GOD'S KINGDOM FIRST
Here's where it gets deeper.
Prayer is not just about you. It's not just "Lord, bless me, help me, give me..."
The primary purpose of prayer is to align with God's agenda - to see His Kingdom come.
Matthew 6:10 - "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done..."
Before "Give us this day," comes "Thy Kingdom come."
KINGDOM-FIRST PRAYERS BRING HEAVEN-FIRST RESULTS
Let me ask you: When was the last time you wept for souls in prayer?
When last did you pray for revival in your city?
When did you last pray, not for your promotion - but for the gospel to spread in your workplace?
That's why many believers pray but see little power - because their altar is self-centred instead of Kingdom-centred.
WHEN YOU FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS TO GOD, HE BEGINS TO FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS TO YOU. - 3. PRAYER IS YOUR PERSONAL MINISTRY
"But prayer is not my thing..."
Pause right there. That's not Biblical. It's not Bible talk.
Every believer has been given a ministry. And guess what?
Prayer is the first one.
Luke 18:1 - "Men ought always to pray..."
Not preachers. Not pastors. Men. Humans. Believers. Us.
Colossians 4:12 talks about Epaphras - "always labouring fervently for you in prayers..."
That was his ministry. That was his service.
You may not be on a pulpit, but your prayer room is your platform.
When you go down on your knees, you rise in authority. - 4. PRAYER SECURES OPEN REWARDS
Some of you are in the secret place... and wondering, "Lord, when?"
Matthew 6:6 says - "Your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly."
That means every tear, every groan, every intercession - God sees it.
And when He answers, no one can deny it.
Listen to this:
You may not be known in the prayer room, but when the rewards show up, even your enemies will know God did this.
I heard a testimony recently
A woman who just focused on praying Kingdom prayers, no longer chasing after things. Then boom!
She conceived.
Then boom again - she got appointed as a regional head in her company... without applying!
Why? Because when you seek God, things begin to seek you. - 5. PRAYER PROVOKES STRANGE FAVOUR
Say this with me:
"Favour is not fair." And it doesn't have to be.
When you live a life of prayer, especially Kingdom prayer, you become a magnet for divine favour.
Nehemiah prayed for Jerusalem. Next thing, favour found him.
He moved from being a cupbearer to becoming a governor!
Nehemiah 2:8 - "...the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me."
Kingdom prayer opens strange doors. Kingdom prayer brings unexpected promotion. Kingdom prayer turns nobodies into rulers.
So stop chasing platforms - chase God.
Stop begging for favour - build your altar.
Favour is drawn to fire.
CALL TO ACTION: LET'S PRAY
Wherever you are, whether driving, (but, don't close your eyes.) walking, or sitting in your room - just pause for a moment and repeat after me:
"Lord, I receive fresh grace to stand on the altar of prayer."
"Ignite my prayer life. Set me on fire again."
"Let my altar burn with Kingdom passion."
"Use me, Lord. Birth destinies through me in prayer." In JesusName. Amen!!
