EPISODE TITLE: PRAYER OF FAITH (PART 5 – The Prayer of Petition Part 2)
Welcome back to our powerful series on Prayer of Faith. Today, we’re digging deeper into one of the most dynamic forms of prayer — the Prayer of Petition — Part 2.
Now, grab your journal or your prayer notebook because this is going to be both practical and deeply spiritual. We’re going to learn how to turn our prayer closets into courtrooms, how to present our petitions with confidence, and how to follow through until we see results.
Let’s begin with Isaiah 43:26
“Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.”
Now, you may wonder, Is God forgetful? Absolutely not! This isn’t about God forgetting — it’s about you reminding Him of His Word because it shows you know what He said. It shows you’re serious, engaged, and aligned with His will. God is calling you to bring up His promises — line by line, scripture by scripture — and plead your case like a legal advocate in court.
Also, look at Hosea 14:2:
“Take with you words, and turn to the Lord...”
When you go to God, take your words. Don’t just cry — present scriptures, promises, and prophecies as your case files.
The Apostles’ Prayer in Acts 4
Let’s look at a powerful example of a petition prayer — Acts 4:24–31.
The early disciples had just been threatened for preaching in Jesus’ Name. What did they do? They didn’t complain or run away. They prayed — and they prayed with purpose. They lifted their voices and quoted Scripture back to God. They referenced Psalm 2, pointed to Jesus’ crucifixion, acknowledged the threats, and made a specific request:
“Grant your servants boldness to preach... stretch out your hand to heal... let signs and wonders be done through Jesus’ Name!”
And what happened? The place shook. The Holy Ghost filled the room. And their prayer moved heaven.
So here's the point: When you pray with clarity, scripture, and boldness, you're not guessing — you’re executing legal spiritual authority.
Let’s talk about Hannah
Now this one is close to many hearts. Hannah, barren and mocked, had cried for years. But one day, she said, “Enough is enough!”
She didn’t go to the priest; she went straight to God. She didn't sob without direction — she presented her petition. In 1 Samuel 1, she poured out her heart silently, but with clarity.
Eli the priest mistook her quiet prayer for drunkenness, but she was pouring out her soul — she had a case, and she presented it well. She even made a vow.
And what happened?
Eli said, “Go in peace, and may the Lord grant your petition.”
And God did.
She conceived and gave birth to Samuel, one of Israel’s greatest prophets. Why? Because she didn’t just cry — she petitioned the Righteous Judge with strong reasons, backed by faith.
Turn Your Closet into a Courtroom!
Here's a practical tip — the prayer of petition is not passive. It's purposeful.
Sometimes, you pray once and feel peace — that’s great. But other times, no peace comes — yet. What do you do? Don’t quit. Like a lawyer going back to court on appeal, go again. Don’t settle. You’re not begging. You’re standing on the Word and saying:
“Lord, You said in Your Word...”
“You promised in Isaiah...”
“You declared in John...”
This is how to pray and get undeniable results.
Let’s not forget Elijah
Remember the prophecy in 1 Kings 18:41:
“I hear the sound of the abundance of rain.”
That was a word from the Lord. But did Elijah go off to eat and wait for clouds? No! While Ahab went to feast, Elijah went to pray. He laboured in prayer — bowed low, face between his knees — and sent his servant seven times to look for the cloud. That’s persistence.
When the servant finally saw a tiny cloud the size of a man’s hand, Elijah said,
“That’s it! Get ready, rain is coming.” And it came heavily. So heavy, Elijah outran Ahab’s royal chariot!
Let me say this: Don’t stop at the prophecy — follow it up with a petition! Many people lose their blessing because they get a word and just wait. Don’t wait — press in with prayer!
Why This Matters
You have access to spiritual authority. When you pray the earnest, heartfelt, scripturally-based prayer of petition:
You can reverse verdicts.
Cancel diagnoses.
Turn impossibilities around.
Shift atmospheres.
Release provision.
Command breakthroughs.
God gave us the Holy Ghost to effect change on earth. And one of the greatest tools He gave us is petition prayer — loaded with faith, filled with His Word, driven by His promises.
