Let's get comfortable as I welcome you back to your favourite transformative Christian podcast - Let's Talk God 'N' Christ!

I'm your host, Gabriella Osamor, and today we're speaking about something real. Something we don't talk about enough in Christian circles: ageing.

Not just the numbers, the grey hairs, or the birthdays…
But ageing with honesty. Naming the hard things without letting them win.

But first, let's pray.

Opening Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of life and the seasons we pass through. Teach us to walk through ageing with grace, honesty, and courage. Help us name what's hard, while holding tightly to Your promises. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Let's Be Real…

Ageing comes with blessings - yes, it does!
Wisdom, perspective, freedom from youthful pressures.
But it also comes with loss, aches, a slower pace, and sometimes, loneliness.

Let's call it what it is.
Let's not pretend.
Let's not sugarcoat.

But let's also not let the hard things win.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)
"To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven."

Ageing is a season. It's not punishment - it's purpose.
But like every season, it has weather. And not all of it is sunny.

What are the Hard Things?
Let me name a few hard things many of us face as we age - maybe you'll recognise yourself:

  1. 1. Loss of physical strength - What used to take minutes now takes effort.
  2. 2. Being overlooked - In a world obsessed with youth, we can feel invisible.
  3. 3. Regret - The "what-ifs" and "I should have" moments creep in.
  4. 3. Fear of sickness, of death, of becoming a burden.
  5. 5. Loneliness - As friends pass on or move away.
  6. 6. Irrelevance - Feeling like your voice no longer matters.

Whew. These are real.
These are not a lack of faith - these are part of being human.

Even Jesus, in His full divinity, sat with pain and named it out loud:
"My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death." – Matthew 26:38

He named it. But He didn't let it win.

Ageing Honestly Means...

1. Acknowledging What Hurts Without Bitterness
You can be honest without being hopeless.
You can say, "This is hard" and still believe "God is good."

2. Letting Go of Shame About Changing Abilities
You are not your productivity.
You are not your memory, your waistline, your career status.
You are God's beloved - period.

3. Refusing to Let Fear Have the Final Word
Fear is loud - but it is not Lord.
Jesus is.

But Here's What Aging Can Birth:

  1. 1. Wisdom with depth
  2. 2. Peace that's not performative
  3. 3. Perspective money can't buy
  4. 4. A testimony that younger ones need
  5. 5. A heart more tuned to eternity

2 Corinthians 4:16 (NLT)
"That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day."

That's the truth.
The body may weaken, but the spirit can get stronger.
And we get to choose that every day.

Ageing Isn't Defeat - It's Discipleship

God doesn't throw people away because of age.
The older you get, the more He expects depth.
Not performance-depth.

Caleb was 85 when he said:

"Give me this mountain." – Joshua 14:12
Age hadn't silenced his faith.
So, why should we let it silence ours?

Practical Encouragements for Ageing With Honesty:

1. Talk to God about the things you'd rather ignore.
He can handle your sadness, confusion, or grief.

2. Speak truth over your days.
Instead of "I'm useless," say "I still have value."

3. Let others in.
Don't isolate. Ageing in the community is richer.

4. Pass it on.
Don't hoard your wisdom - sow it into someone younger.

Final Words:
You don't have to pretend.
You don't have to deny the aches or hide the tears.
But don't let the hard things win.
Because Christ in you is still greater.

Psalm 71:18 (NIV)
"Even when I am old and grey, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare Your power to the next generation."

That's your mission.
And you're still here - so you're not done yet.

Thanks for tuning in to "Let's Talk God 'N' Christ."
Until next time, remember:
It's okay to age. It's okay to feel. But it's never okay to quit.
God is still writing your story - and the next chapter could be the best one yet.

Stay encouraged. Stay faithful. And keep naming the hard things - without letting them win. Talk to God about loneliness, grief, or fear. He hears you.
You are not forgotten. You are being sustained

Let's Pray Together:
Father, help us to age with grace and honesty. Help us to name the hard things without letting them define us. Remind us that every season of life has value - and that You are with us through them all. Let Your joy be our strength and Your promises be our hope. We receive the spiritual gift of gratitude even amid pain.
In Jesus' name, amen.

I REMAIN, GABRIELLA OSAMOR,
YOUR HOST.
